Terms of Service

The rules for using LawCat, including the LawCat connector for ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants.

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Please read these points first

1. These terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and WebRoyal, which builds and operates LawCat (“LawCat”, “we”, “us”). They cover the LawCat website at law.cat, the LawCat app, and the LawCat connector for AI assistants (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. LawCat is not a law firm

3. You are responsible for your filings

4. Estimates are estimates

Child support amounts, filing fees, timelines and similar figures shown by LawCat are estimates based on published guidelines and sources as of the dates shown. They may not reflect every rule, deviation or local practice that applies to you. The court’s official worksheet and the judge’s decision control. Do not rely on an estimate as the amount you will pay or receive.

5. Attorneys in the LawCat network

LawCat may show you a way to contact an attorney in the LawCat network. Those attorneys are independent of LawCat. They did not prepare, review or endorse LawCat’s forms, and LawCat does not recommend, supervise or guarantee their work. Showing you a way to contact an attorney is not a judgment about your case or about that attorney’s fit for it. LawCat does not charge you for the introduction. Any engagement, fees and attorney-client relationship are between you and the attorney, on the attorney’s own terms. You are free to hire any attorney you choose.

6. Fees and refunds

Preparing documents with LawCat is free for individuals unless we clearly say otherwise before you start. If we offer a paid product or service, its price and refund terms are shown at checkout, and those terms apply to that purchase together with any refund rights the law gives you. Court filing fees and other government fees are paid to the court or agency, not to LawCat. Fees for an attorney you hire are set by that attorney.

7. Your account

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or close accounts, revoke connector access or refuse requests that break these Terms or put others at risk.

9. Using LawCat through an AI assistant

10. Your content

You own the information and files you give us. You give LawCat permission to store, process and use them only as needed to provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. The documents prepared for you are yours to use for your case.

11. LawCat’s software

LawCat’s software, design and content (other than official court forms and your content) belong to WebRoyal. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the Service under these Terms. Official court forms remain public documents of the courts that publish them.

LawCat links to official court websites, legal aid organizations, scheduling services and other sites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, availability or practices.

13. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, LawCat disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any form is current or accepted by a particular court, or that using LawCat will lead to any particular result in your case.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, LawCat and WebRoyal will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, court outcomes, missed deadlines or rejected filings, arising from or related to the Service, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for all claims related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid LawCat in the 12 months before the claim or US $100. Some places do not allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.

15. Your responsibility to us

If you break these Terms or the law, or file false information using the Service, and that causes a claim against LawCat, you agree to cover LawCat’s reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.

16. Ending use

You can stop using LawCat at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or if we stop offering the Service. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as disclaimers, limits of liability and governing law) continue after your use ends.

17. Disputes

Before bringing a claim, please contact us through our support page so we can try to resolve it. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights that the law where you live gives you and does not allow you to waive.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Using the Service after the change means you accept it.

19. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and LawCat about the Service. If part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them to a successor of the Service.

20. Contact
